WHAT IS BREAKING "BREAK DANCE"?
Breaking "Break Dance", Bboying, Bgirling or Breakin' started in the 70's in the Bronx, New York as an artistic outlet for young Black and Brown kids. Today, it can be found in your modern day music videos, movies and even the Olympics! Some key movements used are top rock, footwork, freezes, and power moves. It's athletic, funky, spectacular to watch and a key element in Hip Hop culture.

WHAT CAN YOU EXPECT FROM OUR CLASSES?
Your kiddo will learn the basics and foundations of Breaking such as Top Rock, Footwork, and more within the 12 weeks. They will learn body awareness, how to channel their inner "Breaker/Bboy/Bgirl", a term used to identify the Break dancer, and express themselves in a creative and active manner within our welcoming but still challenging space! Your kid will sweat! Our final day will welcome parents to watch their kids do a small demo and a dance battle!
WHO ARE YOU LEARNING FROM?
Our main teacher will be Niara aka "BGirl Lotus", a mentee of our Artistic Director Arnaldo aka "BBoy Effect". On occasion, BBoy Effect will come in to help teach more difficult movements if appropriate.

Our classes are taught by some of the most respected Breakers in the city, and in Canada!

The team is extremely attentive to each student in class since we keep our classes pretty intimate at less than 15 kids. Lots of 1:1 work! We want each kid to feel seen.

Our teaching method and approach also allows kids to learn tangible dance moves that they can take home and express themselves in a creative manner.

We encourage a fun and lively environment, but also teach our kids how to respect their peers, their teacher and the dance style!

Our team also encourages open communication with the parents, so feel free to chat with us on a regular!
